International Music Education
This research project investigates the impact globalization and internationalization have on music education and how internationalization can be shaped to address cultural diversity. It analyses the various dimensions of globalizing music education and conditions for a culturally sensitive internationalization of music education. In this research project, so far resulting in many publications, LMU’s music education department has benefitted immensely from international visiting scholars, their residencies at LMU reaching from a few days or weeks up to one year. Visiting scholars have been: Prof. Patricia Shehan Campbell (USA), Prof. Gary McPherson (Australia), Prof. Nasim Niknafs (Iran/Canada), Prof. Viviane Beineke (Brazil), Prof. Catharina Christopherson (Norway), Prof. Kathryn Marsh (Australia), Prof. Carlos Poblete Lagos (Chile), Prof. Lee Higgins (UK), Prof. Felipe Zamorano (Spain/Chile), Prof. Hildegard Froehlich (USA).
