Symposium 2013

Recordings of the symposium presentations.

Dr. Kertz-Welzel initiated the first International Symposium on Community Music and its connection to music pedagogy. The symposium took place from February 21-23, 2013. 

International expert met for three days to exchange knowledge and talked about questions such as "Can community music be integrated in the everyday practice at school?," or "How do curricular and training have to change, to integrate Community Music Activities?".

Dr. Alexandra Kertz-Welzel (LMU, Germany), Kathryn Deane (Sound Sense, United Kingdom), Dr. Patrick M. Jones (Syracuse University, United States), Dr. Dawn Joseph (Deakin University, Australia), Dr. David J. Elliott (New York University, United States), Dr. Jane Southcott (Monash University, Australia) and Dr. Lee Higgins (Boston University, United States), among others, gave lectures. There were smaller working groups to fully digest the presented knowledge, as well as discussions with everybody in a large circle. At a "Marketplace," numerous examples from the practice of Community Music were presented.
