Basic Qualification in Music Education

In elementary schools, music lessons are also given by teachers who have not studied music as a subject. In in view of this, this course teaches the basics of planning and implementing various musical activities. The focus lies on a practice-oriented examination of lesson content and methods, linked to the students' own experiences. The teaching examples range from working with songs and making music with instruments, to listening to music and translating it into movement. The course also offers a variety of opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. In this way, students develop, on the one hand, a collection of ideas and materials for school practice and, on the other hand, a repertoire of suggestions for designing their own lessons.

Prerequisites for earning a certificate:
Regular attendance; planning and practical implementation of a lesson plan with a short written elaboration.
