Biography

Eva Verena Schmid studied music education, German language and literature at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart and the University of Stuttgart. In 2008, she obtained her PhD in musicology at the Berlin University of the Arts on the topic "Oratorio and Music Festival: On the History of the Oratorio in Germany in the First Half of the 19th Century." The doctoral project was funded by the German Research Foundation within the framework of the Research Training Group "Geistliches Lied und Kirchenlied interdisziplinär" at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. After her traineeship, she worked in the teaching profession for three years and held a teaching position for music pedagogy at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, funded by the Mathilde-Planck-Lehrauftragsprogramm. From 2013 to 2015 she was a mentee in the LMUexcellent mentoring program, and from 2015 to 2018 she held a substitute professorship in music education at the University of Bremen. Since 2012, she has been working as a research assistant in music education at LMU Munich.

Her research interests lie in the field of inclusion, creative listening, music education, and comparative music education (Italy - Germany).
