Kunst als Schutzraum

Conference at the HMT and LMU Munich, May 5.-6th. 2017

07.05.2017

Connecting with refugees occupies many different groups in our society. As educators and artists, we feel a special responsibility to rise to this challenge. In working with refugees, it is important to bring people with different cultural and linguistic roots into contact with each other and to integrate them into our society. Approaches that combine music, movement/dance and language were considered from different perspectives. Yet also questions and challenges were discussed at the conference "Kunst als Schutzraum".

The focus lay on the aesthetic and pedagogical potential of music, movement/dance and language, illustrated by successful projects and current scientific concepts, which were presented by experienced project leaders, musicians, dancers and scientists. With a mixture of keynote speeches and workshops, the conference focused on encounters with refugees in Munich and offered opportunities for productive exchange and dialogue.

The conference, which took place from May 5-6, 2017 and was organized in cooperation with the University of Music and Theater Munich, was aimed at all those who work with refugees in various fields or are preparing to.
